World Day Against Child Labour
TWorld Day Against Child Labour was observed in FAsCE Supplementary Education Centre, Narengi with the theme “Social Justice for All; End Child labour” on June 12, 2023. Eliminating child labour and legal protection against all form of child labour was the focus area of this year’s event. Mr. RanjanBaruah, CEO, North East Youth Foundation addressed the children to raise awareness on the ills of child labour. The session began with a history and rationale behind observing world day against child labour. The resource person explained the difference between child labour and other forms of work carried out at home and narrated motivational stories of famous personalities through short videos. One of the most important message was ‘how to help a child in distress?’. In many cases, people wish to help a person or a child. But they do not know how to extend their help. The children were informed about Childline – 1098 and NGOs encouraging them to make use when they need any help or comes across a child in distress.

Similar program was organized at FAsCE Supplementary Education Centre, Bahalpur, Chapar. On the occasion, the children were given awareness on the negative impact of child labourer. The children were discouraged from working in brick kiln, tea garden and hotels. The teacher of the centre shared that childhood and adolescence is a period of learning and leisure. The program concluded with a vote of thanks and refreshment thereafter.
