Medical Camp for Inmates of Central Jail Lokhra, Guwahati

"God does not despise the broken; nor should we. Rather, we are to imitate the One who came to seek and to save the lost". With this motto to visit and offer service in the area of health care for the inmates of the Guwahati Central Jail, a free medical camp was organized on 4th September 2016. The medical camp was a collaborative endeavor of FAsCE India with the Prison Ministry of Northeast India. Around 250 inmates of the Central Jail benefited from this camp.  The health check up was done both for male and female ward. The Superintendent of the Central Jail and his staff offered their support and encouragement in holding the day-long health camp. A team of 10 doctors and medical experts from Sahid Jadav Nath Government Homeopathic College, Guwahati joined FAsCE India in realizing this act of mercy. Sr. Letitia, the Regional Coordinator of NE Prison Ministry of India, Fr. Saji George, Executive Director and Fr. Clean Arengh, Associate Director along with the members of Prison Ministry and FAsCE India Staff were present for coordinating the smooth functioning of the camp. Shri. Bhupen Ch. Das, Superintendent of Central Jail, Shri. Deba Kr. Gogoi, Jailor and Shri. Sujit Das, Assistant Jailor extended their wholehearted support and appreciated the initiative of FAsCE India. The Prison authority felt that it was very much beneficial for the inmates and they have asked for more of such camp and collaborations.
